Zigzag Rayon Scarf in Red from Guatemala, “Sweet Zigzag”

Presented by Guatemala’s Women United for Artisan Development, this sweet scarf represents an effort to provide local women with the artisanal skills they need to sustain themselves. The artisans hand-weave this scarf from rayon on the traditional telar de cintura, or backstrap loom. Threads of crimson, raisin, and snow white create zigzags and a subtle striped pattern. Elegant fringes decorate this scarf on the ends.
