Zuni Deer Fetish Carving This Zuni Deer Fetish Carving was hand carved by Elton Kaamasee. We believe it depicts Wapiti, a Native American word for elk that means “light colored deer”. As you see in this small sculpture, he exudes confidence and power. The antler horn is etched for the animals’ fur and his rack is quite impressive. He has Turquoise eyes and is finished with a soft shine. It’s 1-3/8″ long and 1-3/4″ tall and is signed. The spirit of this Zuni Deer Fetish Carving has a strong loyalty to family, and this would make a wonderful gift! This and other carvings were part of a private collection. Most have the original cards of purchase, made by the owner, and all were extremely well cared for. The previous owner collected these in the last quarter of the 20th century.
